The following was posted on Microsoft's website at http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifean18
"Support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Millennium Edition (Me) ends on July 11, 2006. Microsoft will end public and technical support by this date. This also includes security updates. Microsoft is providing final notifications to customers to end the extended security update support for these products."
"Microsoft is ending support for these products because they are outdated and these older operating systems can expose customers to security risks. We recommend that customers who are still running Windows 98 or Windows Me upgrade to a newer, more secure Microsoft operating system, such as Windows XP, as soon as possible."
What does this mean for you as CDE Customers? As we continue to develop, expand and improve our products, we occasionally have to make choices regarding certain features that may require compatibility only with the current operating systems supported by Microsoft, which is Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 (although discontinued, it is still supported). As the majority of our consumer base is using the latest operating systems, we still have a small segment of our customers using older operating systems.
At the present time, no decision has been made regarding BLS-2007 and the ability to install and / or use all or most features of the program when under the non-supported operating systems.
Our Aleksis Kiosk 2005 product, in order to provide specific functionality, was released with support only for Windows XP Pro/Windows 2000 base.
What should you do? We would strongly encourage you to upgrade to Windows XP as soon as possible. It may be necessary to upgrade either portions or your entire computer, so please confer with your local computer dealer, repair shop or consultant.
By upgrading to Windows XP, you will also help minimize security risks that the outdated systems expose you to, regardless if you have access to the Internet or not.
